Cafetière (The Pot) by Canadian artist Philippe Lareau presents his unique stylised approach to form within a simply still life. Set against a backdrop made up of various shades of blue, the elongated coffee pot in green stretches up throughout the composition. A single shadow brings depth to the work, while is simple structure and elongated forms express notions of the familiar yet obscure.

Philippe Lareau is an artist living and working in Québec City, Canada. He graduated in visual arts at the University of Sherbrooke, and in Television Production at the Cégep de Jonquière. Philippe's work is closely linked to everyday objects, those that we use without paying attention to them but that accompany us on a daily basis. His work experiments with shape, color and texture through simple compositions and everyday motifs.
