New forms are created in the eye of the beholder as soft forms intertwine in Poetry of Geometry 02 by German artist Julita Elbe. Inspired by the simple geometry of the Bauhaus, Elbe has layered rectangular and circular forms in tissue, their semi-transparent nature creating a myriad of tones as they merge and disperse. Set against a warm and neutral base, the resulting composition is soft and subtle.
Designer and artist Julita Elbe lives and works in Münster in North-West Germany. Having studied design in Münster, and then working as a freelance designer for many years, her focus shifted to an artistic practice based around the combination of digital and hands-on techniques. Inspired by the organic forms, lines and patterns found within nature and architecture, her work is grounded in unobtrusive colours and structures that create warm and soothing compositions. Texture and colour are added to her work through experiments with tissue and handmade cotton paper, mixed with digital components to create bold yet soft compositions.
