Contemplative Chair (Limited Edition)

By Lourenço Providência

Lourenço Providência’s first collection for Paper Collective explores colour as subject, through four silkscreen art prints that embrace humor and imperfection. Heavily inspired by travels through Mexico and architect Luis Barragán’s use of flat colour to frame everyday vistas, Contemplative Chair mirrors object and subject, illuminating how each is completed by the other.

Contemplative Chair is a hand-pulled silkscreen artwork on 250 gsm Fabriano Unica 50% cotton stock, signed and numbered by the artist in a limited edition of 50 pieces + three artists proofs.

Lourenço Providência (PT)

Lourenço Providência (b. 1996) is a Portuguese artist living and working in New York. With a background in design, illustration, painting, and mural work, Lourenço's multifaceted approach to image-making has largely influenced his refined minimal aesthetic. Inspired by simplicity, efficiency, and the wonders found in the everyday, Lourenço's work values an economy of colour and line and reflects the essential qualities of the objects and people that inhabit his paintings.

I’ve always been interested in the line between reality and fiction, where one constantly informs the other. I like my work to exist along that line, with one foot on each side.
