Pansy Collage
By Julie Legrand
Pansy Collage by French illustrator and artist Julie Legrand contains a floral centerpiece, created as part of her larger series of three artworks that make up her first collection for Paper Collective. Borrowing shapes and colours from one another, the composition features a white floral subject with cut out forms in green, yellow, pink, brown and blue. Through shared elements, the series talks to one another with a sense of fun and openess.
Julie Legrand (FR)
Julie Legrand is an illustrator, screen printer, and graphic designer working from Atelier Cagnard, a multidisciplinary space in Sète, France, where she is resident and co-founder. Passionate about printed images and micro-publishing, she uses traditional techniques such as drawing and collage to produce her illustrations - with screen-printing and Riso-printing her favoured mediums. While occasionally collaborating on other artistic and publishing projects and commissioned work, the bulk of her practice consists of independent and self-managed production and distribution of personal work - affording Legrand great freedom, both in the creation of her printed objects and the development of a personal vision. A lover of still life, she is inspired by culinary traditions and food in general, everyday life, the rural world, and the objects found there. She builds visual narratives around the intimate and the everyday, devoting her work to talking about their substance and memory.
