Willem van Hooff

Netherlands

Willem van Hooff is a Dutch artist and designer based in Eindhoven. Through his work he explores his fascination with objects that hold written or carved stories within them - a fascination stemming from peoples need to leave a mark and what it can add to an object. Most of his stories focus on van Hooff's own insecurities and imperfections. Whilst working mainly with ceramics, throughout the years he has written and told stories in many other materials - a form of tattoo-ing his own creations.

“As the combination of color and material gave a classic white tile feeling - so I wrote some silly toilet humor combined with my heavier thoughts. The outcome are these unique sculptural pieces!”
