Could you start by telling us a little about yourself?
Originally, I studied fashion design and art and later worked in photography and interior
design as a Senior Art Director in e-commerce. During the Corona years, I started creating content online, which deepened my love for interiors, color, and the emotional impact spaces can have on us. Becoming a wife and mom also changed the way I see home completely. Today I’m balancing family life, content creation, and building my own brand, rawroom.
We’d also love to hear about your home — and the journey that brought you there.
Our journey started in a tiny one-room apartment in Berlin. During Corona I started content creation. After our son Tommy was born, we decided to buy this beautiful Altbau apartment in Berlin-Köpenick. We’ve been living here for a little over two years now, and it’s still far from finished. I like taking my time and letting the home evolve organically instead of decorating everything at once.
Could you share a bit about your brand, rawroom, and the ideas behind it?
Rawroom started after I lost my job following maternity leave. I couldn’t find anything that truly excited me anymore, so I decided to create my own job and build my own brand. I’m doing it together with my friend Klaudia in Warsaw, who is also a mom and owner of her own brand moi milli, so it’s really two busy mothers building a small business with a lot of passion and patience. We focus on textiles and curtains with beautiful textures, colors, and atmosphere - pieces that transform a room through light and feeling.
How would you describe your home and your interior style?
I honestly don’t like putting my home into one specific category or style label. For me, it’s about creating a home that feels warm, inspiring, cozy, and personal. The base is rather neutral, but I love adding boldness through curtains, art, textiles, and color accents. Light plays a huge role for me - I love how colored fabrics change the atmosphere of a room throughout the day. I also need art and tactile elements around me; I could never live with empty walls.
You’ve chosen a beautiful mix of artworks from Paper Collective for your home. What drew you to these particular pieces, and what were you looking for when selecting them?
I was looking for a mix of styles - photography, abstract works, paintings, figurative pieces - but still connected through mood and color. For the bedroom, I wanted something large but calm and not too loud visually. Usually it’s difficult to find children’s art that still feels cute, timeless and aesthetic, but still playful and at paper collective I found so many, it was difficult to decide. The office pieces were the easiest because I instantly knew they were right.
Where do you typically find inspiration - whether for your work, your home, or everyday life?
Honestly, everywhere. Of course social media is a huge source of inspiration, but also
everyday life, textures, light, colors, travel, films, cafés, or simply noticing that something in my home feels “unfinished.” Once I feel that a room is missing something, I keep searching until I find the right piece, texture, or color. Berlin itself is also incredibly inspiring because there’s always something new to discover.
What do you love most about living in Berlin? Do you have any favorite places in the city, and what makes them special to you?
I wouldn’t say I romantically love Berlin — I even thought about moving away a few time
but I’ve lived here for over 22 years now, longer than anywhere else. Most of my friends and my whole life are here. What I do love is that the city never stops surprising you. No matter how long you live here, you always discover new places, people, cafés, exhibitions, or little corners you’ve never noticed before. My favorite places keep changing depending on the phase of life I’m in.
Is there a particular room, corner, or object in your home that means the most to you? Why?
Not really one specific room or object. For me, it’s more little moments or vignettes that feel frozen in time - morning light in the living room while the balcony doors are open and the curtains move in the wind, evening light in the office, or certain corners suddenly glowing beautifully for a few minutes during the day. Those moments you usually find then on my Insta, my little diary of beautiful moments. Right now, I also really love Tommy’s room because it feels playful, warm, and full of personality.
Many people struggle with finding the right artworks or defining their personal style at home. Do you have any advice or a simple trick that has helped you?
Don’t pressure yourself too much into finding “your style.” For some people it comes early, for others much later, and for many it keeps evolving throughout life. I think it helps to focus on a certain mood or color palette and slowly build around it. Vision boards are also very useful because they help you see everything together. And most importantly: take your time. Don’t try to finish your home all at once. The best homes grow slowly and naturally over time.
